Organ Donation in Hong Kong

Dear Presidents and District Leaders,

I refer to DG Kenneth’s email of 13 May informing you of the very important event for promoting Organ Donation in Hong Kong which will be held at the Central Atrium of Olympian City 2 (奧海城2期地下主題中庭) on 1-2 June 2013.

I would like to attach for your easy reference the posters (one in Chinese, and one in English) highlighting the venue, time and date and the programme of the 2-day event.  I would like to draw your particular attention to the following points:

(i)  Please arrive at the venue (Central Atrium of Olympian City 2) no later than 2:30 p.m. on 1 June (Saturday), as the launching ceremony will be officiated at 3 p.m.

(ii) Remember to pre-register with RIC yourself, your club members/family members/friends and your rotaractors who will attend the launching ceremony on 1 June.  Each and every one who has pre-registered will be given a Tee-shirt and a Certificate of Award at the launching ceremony apart from the Rotary Octopus Card.   Arrangements will also be made for you to take pictures with the officiating guests on stage and also in groups of your own.  Pre-registration is necessary because we have to know the number of tee-shirts and certificates to be prepared and given out.

(iii) You are most welcome to support this important event by purchasing the Rotary Octopus Cards at HK$35 per card for yourself, your family, your club members and friends.   As the number of cards available are limited, you are advised to submit your return (attached to DG Kenneth’s earlier email and also attached to this email) as soon as possible to RIC.  Alternatively you can call RIC or me to lodge your order.

(iv)  If you know of some rotaractors who wish to help out in the event, please indicate their names in the appropriate columns of the return you submit to RIC.  Alternatively you can contact Eliot Li of RC of HK NW who is the coordinator for the on-site activities (this email is also copied to him) of the event.   We need hands to help manning the exhibition panels and game booths which will be set up at the Olympian City 2 venue starting from mid-day of 1 June until the evening of 2 June.  Medical students will be manning the health check stations during the same period.

(v)  You are also most welcome to attend the press conference which will be held at 11 a.m. on 2 June 2013 (Sunday) in the same venue, in which a representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) will speak on organ donation and related issues.

Kind note that for such an important and large scale event, we must know well in advance the number of participants and helpers for better planning and management.  So please place your order for cards and submit your return of attendance as soon as possible and in any case no later than 30 May, coming Thursday.
